About This Book:

Al-Miqdad, one of the Companions of the Prophet, said:
Allah sent the Prophet in the most difficult situation that a prophet had been sent, in a period without prophets and ignorance, and they did not believe that there was a religion better than idol worship. Then, the Criterion (the Qur'an) was sent to separate truth from falsehood... (Ibn Hanbal, Musnad al-Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal, p. 1733)
Comparing Islam to the period of ignorance does not receive the attention it deserves, and surely, nobody will ever be able to appreciate the change as much as the Companions themselves did. Jābir bin Samura
narrated that the Companions used to sit in the mosque after the morning prayers, speaking and laughing about the pre-Islamic times, while the Prophet would simply smile (Muslim, Sahih Muslim, p. 313). They would reminisce about the massive changes as if they occurred a lifetime ago. Though, the shift only actually occurred during a mere few years for most of the Companions.
