Muhammad ibn Al ibn Abd Allah, also referred to as Muhammad al-Imam, was the great-grandson of al-'Abbas ibn 'Abd al-Muttalib, the uncle of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and the son of Ali ibn Abd Allah ibn al-Abbas. He lived from 679/80 till 744. He was the father of the first two 'Abbâsid caliphs, Al-Saffah and Al-Mansur, and consequently the founding father of the Abbasid dynasty. He was born in Humeima, Jordan.
