This treatise was composed in response to a question presented to Shaykh ul-Islam from Hama, a town in Sham (a historical region in the Levant) in the year 698H. The question included assertions made by jurists and religious scholars about scriptures and Ahadith (sayings of the Prophet Muhammad) concerning Allah's Attributes. Shaykh ul-Islam delivered a lengthy rebuttal spanning around eighty-three pages in his response. His comprehensive and detailed explanation sought to clarify the right Aqeedah (belief) regarding Allah's Attributes.
